BUNKAI SPARRING SEMINAR WITH IAIN ABERNETHY

BUNKAI SPARRING SEMINAR WITH IAIN ABERNETHY

We have another awesome seminar going ahead with Iain Abernethy on 30th April 2023. Mats will also be down for safety purposes. If you have sparring/safety equipment, then please bring it along. We will have loads of interest for this seminar, and it is likely to sell out rather quickly due to this theme being very popular.

The theme for this seminar will be Kata-Based-Sparring. We will cover a whole range of safe, productive and fun live drills that will bring the kata to life! In the past, kata and kumite were closely linked. Today, many karateka are not familiar with the methods within the kata, and sparring is often based exclusively on the modern competitive format. The link can therefore seem unclear. When we correctly view that kata, and understand the holistic nature of traditional sparring, the link becomes direct, obvious and exciting. We will also discuss how to ensure the sparring is appropriate for all levels of ability.

Testimonials
I have just recently joined the WCA as an Associate Instructor and, so far, the experience has been very pleasing. The response to my enquiries was prompt and professional, and the admission process very smooth. I am pleased to be associated with the WCA and I look forward to many years of knowledge exchange and learning. As my school grows, I will enrol the school into the WCA - my students are quite excited by the prospect. Thank you for your positive and constructive contribution to the field of martial arts.
